Made in India Games to Go Global: SEPC Signs MoU with WinZO

New Delhi: The Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with social gaming and interactive entertainment platform WinZO, to drive global exports of Made in India Games and strengthen the country’s footprint in the $300 billion global gaming market.

Strategic Focus on Exporting Made in India Games

The SEPC–WinZO partnership will make targeted interventions to boost the export of Indian gaming technology and intellectual property (IP).

The initiative positions India as a key player in the global gaming landscape, capitalizing on the country’s large user base and rapidly growing gaming startup ecosystem.

According to the India Gaming Report 2025, India represents nearly 20% of the global gaming user base and 15.1% of worldwide gaming app downloads. With nearly USD 3 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), 1,888 gaming startups, and industry growth projected from USD 3.7 billion in 2024 to USD 9.1 billion by 2029 at a CAGR of 19.6%, the sector is one of the fastest-expanding in India’s digital economy.

Made in India Games: Showcasing Indian Developers Globally

Under this MoU, WinZO will showcase Indian game developers and gaming technologies at Gamescom in Germany and other international platforms. These initiatives will connect Indian innovators with global publishers, investors, and industry stakeholders, strengthening India’s position as a hub for Made in India Games.

Supporting Startup Growth and Talent Development

The partnership addresses key challenges facing Indian gaming, including funding, incubation, monetization, and skill-building. It will also expand WinZO’s Bharat Tech Triumph Program, which has already represented Indian talent at international events like the Game Developers Conference (GDC), Gamescom LATAM, and Startup Mahakumbh.

A critical component of the collaboration is WinZO’s Global Center of Excellence (GCoE), established with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which promotes Indian IP in global markets. By creating a supportive ecosystem, the MoU aims to safeguard IP, attract foreign investments, and unlock international business opportunities for developers.

Made in India Games: Alignment with Atmanirbhar Bharat

This first-of-its-kind national-level partnership also focuses on building a strong foundation for creators, influencers, innovators, and students. It supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, aiming to secure a 20% share of the global gaming industry in line with India’s share of the global user base.
